I stumbled across Donny at GoodGod - and I have to say I'm so impressed! Donny has TOTALLY nailed the awkward late 70's early 80's Don Johnson wannabe B grade movie/music video sleazy try-hard. (Yes, this is a compliment).
I used to go to school with this guy - he is actually an amazing jazz bass player... I think we might even have done a gig or two together. It's great to see people from the past doing great things. You go Donny!

This video is hilarious! My friend Spencer went to Africa with his brother and friends and they made this video. I guess it doesn't hurt that Spencer is an amazing Director and his brother an insanely talented cinematographer -- it gets really good around the 3.20 mark. "Is that a homosexual...i thought they were only in New York".

This is what I've been working on for the last few months. It's a great inspiring movie of how you can use your body's natural ability to heal itself. Joe is a pretty amazing guy and he is putting a very important message out there. Juicing is great way to get more nutrients into your diet without smashing a plate full of vegetables. Vege juices are the best and surprisingly really tasty.... i must admit i was skeptical. Total convert now.
Anyway...try it for yourself. The film comes out at the end of November.

Came across this glorious piece of cinema from the late 70's.
This type of footage is what documentary filming is based on... the captivation of sole humans and understanding what is going on through their minds. The simple fact that we don't know, at any time, exactly what someone else is thinking or what motivates people to do what they do is such an intriguing facet of human life. I know it is what motivates me to understand.

got out the ole Jimi Hendrix Blues album out today.

I was completely obsessed with Jimi when i was younger. Room plastered with posters -- every album -- oversized men's tie-dye t-shirts that looked like oversized dresses on me. Books, VHS -- the whole deal. It was soo strange why I became so attached to him. Not only was he ridiculously talented but he was so cool. I truly worshipped him. It's nice to re-visit my first crush!

I've had the urge to re-discover all the music that I was so obsessed with for a long time in my twenties.
I feel with all this acquisition of the new you sometimes forget to savour the old...I'm starting with Miles Davis and going down the winding jazz road from there.

Russian Criminal Tattoos

I've always had a deep fascination with Russia and mildly with criminals and the subjective experience of their lives. An interesting aspect of Russian criminals is the way they tattoo their 'story' onto their bodies. It portrays their beliefs, where they've been, their affiliations and their toughness.

I'm interested in this concept of tattooing and feel that it has more sacredness than just tattooing something aesthetically pleasing on your body. The act of marking your body with something permanently, I believe must have deep meaning and is probably why I don't have one. Too much pressure.
But in a way, to NOT have a tattoo embodies a meaning nowadays as well.

With all that said -- I sometimes think that we only have one life and it's short so why not just do whatever you want!
Clearly I'm divided....

This documentary on Russian tattoos is worth a look if you are interested in understanding the meaning behind the different designs and placements.

Jeez what will Google do next... i absolutely love this. Being able to zoom in so close to paintings in some of the worlds best art galleries...beats having to get in the right light so that you don't see the whole gallery in the glass... but i'm also secretly afraid at their brand expansion -- a little OTT no?

2010: Time for Change

I'm extremely excited to see this film... i like that they aren't professing that the world is going to end but rather that 2012 symbolizes a change is coming and needed. We do need to reach to a higher consciousness.
I've begun to feel this more than ever lately and the more I continue down my own spiritual journey the more it becomes apparent that I'm part of the bigger picture of the collective consciousness. I know sometimes these words and statements can seem too esoteric and somewhat like loose spiritual fodder... but I have discovered that the more i get in touch with my inner self there is a natural and unintentional inclination towards this consciousness. I've stopped eating meat, focusing on nutrition - which is highly related to sustainability and the way we prepare and eat foods, riding my bike (yes even out of Bondi). And I know that I can do more - if I owned my own house and backyard I know that I would setting up a vege garden with worm compost. I tried to get a worm farm out the back of our apartment blocks but it was rejected by the body corporate bc no-one wanted to take responsibility for it. Sigh. The guy who owns most of the apartments in the block told me that he doesn't even recycle his paper and plastic. Oh brother! You can imagine that he wasn't really going to help push through the worm farm idea.
