off to New York and LA soon for a break. Goddamn! i've needed this. gonna jump right in and soak it all up before i come back to Sydney and exist in my small radius of work, live and play area. there was an article in the New Yorker recently that explained that the smaller your triangle is (the triangle being the three places of most importance in your life: work, live and socialise) the happier you are.
mmm... that theory is definetely an interesting one and could be put to the test. I guess if you think about the commuting between your job and your home life - the longer that took - that 'dead' time could very reasonably make you feel that your life was not being used to it's optimum. The fact that you live to work would seem much more real.
Does that mean that you life outside of your work is what guarantee's you your happiness? Therefore it leads me to think that housewifes must be the happiest of us all. But that surely can't be the case. Are prisoners happy in their cell? Their triangle is almost non existence.
Maybe we aren't using our freedom properley. Maybe you have to feel cooped up.. like a caged bird to truly appreciate freedom. And then doesn't that bird usually sing the sweetest.
Ahhh we truly don't know what we have till it's gone. Joni Mitchell knew the answer and sang it so sweetly. Maybe i should get her records out again.
